Following the legalization of hemp farming in New York, BestBone Growers originated in 2019 when founders Rick Depalma and Mike McGetrick teamed up, using their expansive business, marijuana, and engineering experience to capitalize on this new and emerging industry.

Originally known and operating as “Marissa Hemp Acres,” (an homage to Rick’s daughter), the business began to grow and thrive. As the legal landscape of the marijuana industry progressed in New York, so did Marissa Hemp Acres – transforming our stunning 147 acre property into our own little marijuana oasis.

Having played an integral part in studies to create the most manageable growing processes for marijuana plants, and taking a leading role in creating best local growing practices, we have firmly established ourselves as one of the top marijuana farms in the state.

When N.Y. legalized the cultivation of adult-use marijuana and we received our conditional cultivator license to start producing THC

cannabis – we knew we were onto something much bigger than our little Marissa Hemp Acres name and niche could provide. Still fully committed to our quality mountain grown marijuana, as well as all of our beliefs and values, we just wanted something bigger. We needed a brand and company name that better conveyed our passion, our dedication, our personalities, and our massive business potential – and thus – in 2022 BestBone Growers was born.

Although our name has changed with time, our morals never will. As BestBone Growers continues to expand, quality, integrity, and sustainability will always be at the heart of everything we do. Our plants will always be cared for with the attention to detail and diligence you’d expect in anything grown for personal consumption, and our customers and consumers will always be what matters most.

With our scenic location in the Catskills region of upstate New York, and being surrounded by 40,000 acres of beautiful, undeveloped land, it would be impossible for us to be enveloped by such natural wonder and not make sustainability and the environment one of our top priorities. In and industry not known for being environmentally friendly, we’re especially proud of our state-of-the-art, off-grid, solar power system designed and built by US veterans.
